yeah, i hate the word 'virtual' for that same reason!
but i guess traditionally, there has always been an issue of identity on the internet. so i think it doesnt matter what we appear like!?
what i think is most important is what we can create that only exists in cyberspace. esp. in terms of new interactive art forms that explore new paridigms for expression and dialogue.

let us not separate SL from RL, SL is yet another form of RL, a digital form in cyberspace, and yes a much more limited form than RL as RL's objects and actions are not as rigidly defined.
it always surprises me that in these "innovative" environments all we get to represent ourselves is humanoid avatars, that walk everywhere and express primitive human emotonyms.
